6 Words for 2016

6 Words for 2016

As we begin this new year, it is important to commit our plans, our hopes, our resolutions to God and let Him direct us in all our ways. What you might find helpful is getting hold of a word, a phrase or verse that reminds you of God’s promises, His character and His person so that in any and every situation that comes up throughout the year, you can hold on to that promise of God and remember that He will see you through.

Last year we adapted the verse, “A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps. Proverbs 16:9” for our family and we were constantly reminded that whatever our plans may be, God directs us in the right path. So our prayers were not what we want for us, but asking for His will in our lives.

This year we have adapted the following phrase in our lives: “Unchanging God in a Changing World!” Even if we get tossed around or let down, God is going to remain the same yesterday, today and forever! (Hebrews 13:8)

The person of God is unchanging: “For I am the Lord, I do not change; Malachi 3:6″

His words and promises are unchanging: “The grass withers, the flower fades,
But the word of our God stands forever. Isaiah 40:8″

His actions and purposes are unchanging: “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. James 1:17”

This gives hope, peace and rest in His name; in the unchanging name of God! I’m sure as we look back at the end of this year we would be able to relate to how unchanging our God was in our lives this year!

I enjoy learning from God’s word, it amazes me, the wisdom and treasures of God and the way He reveals them to me day after day in a profound manner. In this space I share with you what I’ve learnt through my time with the Word. I earnestly believe that learning alone isn’t sufficient but walking in the word is crucial in a believer’s life. As much as I desire to walk in the word, it’s not always easy. My hope is to encourage you, my dear friend, in your walk with God with words that He has used to strengthen my own walk with Him.
