4 Tips to keep up with Quiet time during Vacation

We all travel and some of us more often than others. However, It is important to give God the priority every day whether we are at home or on travel. I know it can get hard, especially when you have a fun packed vacation. But it is possible to enjoy the changing scenery and still keep yourself in the word and maintain your quiet time with God daily. Here are 4 Tips to keep up with Quiet time during vacation.

Carry your Bible

Whether you are going on a long trip or short, if there is one thing you should be carrying is your Bible. I’m not talking about the Bible app on your iPads and iPhones. Unless that is how you normally read your Bible, I recommend carrying your regular Bible. I find that I am more inclined to read the Bible while I’m traveling if I carry the one I regularly use as opposed to the one on my phone or tablet.

Gratitude Journal

Writing down one thing you are thankful for every day can be a wonderful experience even when you are not traveling. Especially when you are away from home and from your comfort zone, this exercise could be a challenging and exciting one. It could also turn out to be a travel journal full of beautiful memories and the ways in which God’s presence and guidance sustained you. I use the app Attitudes of Gratitude Journal when I travel to note down my gratitudes and blessings. My favorite part is that I can store images along with the text. When you look back at the trip, you can thank God for all His blessings.

Use Technology

While on travel, you can put to good use the technology you have at hand. Before you travel, make sure you have a good library of books because you will find lots of time during travel in transits, on the plane and even on the beach. Make sure the books you need are downloaded in case you need to go offline.

Stay connected with your Church

Stay connected with your church and its activities if you are going away on a long trip. Most churches have their news posted online or in newsletters. Catch up on the sermons and podcasts. Most of all keep in touch with your friends and members of the church.

I enjoy learning from God’s word, it amazes me, the wisdom and treasures of God and the way He reveals them to me day after day in a profound manner. In this space I share with you what I’ve learnt through my time with the Word. I earnestly believe that learning alone isn’t sufficient but walking in the word is crucial in a believer’s life. As much as I desire to walk in the word, it’s not always easy. My hope is to encourage you, my dear friend, in your walk with God with words that He has used to strengthen my own walk with Him.
