Five Minute Friday : CONTROL

Five Minute Friday : CONTROL

Five Minute Friday : CONTROL

Call it authority, leadership, management or power, but the word CONTROL boils down to one’s ability and intention to influence and direct people’s behavior or course of events. Either intentionally or unintentionally, willingly or unwillingly we try to fit into this definition. We need control, we enjoy control, we love how control satisfies our deepest wants of power.

But the Bible says that God is the one in control. He is the master of creation, He controls the whole world, the seasons, the human heart and all their will. What He wants from us is not control, but self-control. “In all this Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong.” (Job 1:22)  Joseph, Daniel and Job traded their control for a little self-control.

So today, why not relinquish that want for control with a little bit of self-control. After all, it’s a fruit of the spirit, might I add, a hardest one at that. My prayer for you and me today is that as we go about this day, may the Holy Spirit provide the opportunity to give up your control and borrow a little self-control.

I enjoy learning from God’s word, it amazes me, the wisdom and treasures of God and the way He reveals them to me day after day in a profound manner. In this space I share with you what I’ve learnt through my time with the Word. I earnestly believe that learning alone isn’t sufficient but walking in the word is crucial in a believer’s life. As much as I desire to walk in the word, it’s not always easy. My hope is to encourage you, my dear friend, in your walk with God with words that He has used to strengthen my own walk with Him.
