Memory Verse Monday – Week 7

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

What will you do if you had only 10 seconds to answer the question, how can I be saved or how were you saved? Enter, our verse for this week. “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9) There are 2 foundational truths in this verse.

The first is a confession. We need to confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Jesus Christ is none but the Son of God and He is God. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1) “Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.” (1 John 4:15)

The second is believing. We need to believe that God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Belief in the resurrection is a crucial element of our salvation. It is the means by which we are justified, made right with God. Because in v10 we see that “For with the heart one believes unto righteousness” “who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.” (Romans 4:25That’s what happens at our salvation. We are imputed with the righteousness of God and thereby have peace with God. Our old self is dead and we are made new.

So, confession and belief sums up Romans 10:9 for you. You may or may not get an opportunity to share your faith in 10 seconds or less. But when that time comes, remember Romans 10:9 The Jailor asked Paul and Silas, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” and they said “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved”. So, you’ll never know!

Tip of the Week

I asked on the Facebook community last week, (By the way, check it out if you are not part of it and give it a like) about their favorite way to memorize scripture and I got a wonderful tip. Write down the verse in a chalk board or white board. Repeat the verse by looking at it and each time you repeat, erase one word and see if you can finish it. By the time you erase all words, you would have learnt the verse! I am going to be trying it this week.

Let me know if you have any interesting way that helps you memorize the scripture in the comments below.

I enjoy learning from God’s word, it amazes me, the wisdom and treasures of God and the way He reveals them to me day after day in a profound manner. In this space I share with you what I’ve learnt through my time with the Word. I earnestly believe that learning alone isn’t sufficient but walking in the word is crucial in a believer’s life. As much as I desire to walk in the word, it’s not always easy. My hope is to encourage you, my dear friend, in your walk with God with words that He has used to strengthen my own walk with Him.
