Five Minute Friday : ENOUGH

Five Minute Friday : ENOUGH

Five Minute Friday : ENOUGH

O God, You are my God;
Early will I seek You;
My soul thirsts for You;
My flesh longs for You
In a dry and thirsty land
Where there is no water. Psalm 63:1

Throughout the Bible we see a lot of correlation between food and the things related to spiritual growth, be it the word of God, meditating on Him or Jesus Christ himself, who is the bread of life. Why do you think that is? Well, for one, it is something that every single person can relate to.

David is writing these lines while he is in the wilderness of Judah. How odd, for him to hunger and thirst for God, while he is in such an adverse conditions. But that is the beauty of it. God satisfies. He satisfies until you become sufficient. Till you say ENOUGH. Eventhough you are in very dry lands, like David.

There is a key though, to enjoy the satisfaction. We need to seek, we need to reach out, we need to make the effort. David’s words, “I have looked for You”, “I will lift up my hands in Your name”, “I remember You in my bed”, “I meditate on You in the night watches”. When we stretch out to seek, yearn and hunger for Him, He satisfies.

My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness,
And my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips. Psalm 63:5

See what others are thinking about the word ENOUGH.

I enjoy learning from God’s word, it amazes me, the wisdom and treasures of God and the way He reveals them to me day after day in a profound manner. In this space I share with you what I’ve learnt through my time with the Word. I earnestly believe that learning alone isn’t sufficient but walking in the word is crucial in a believer’s life. As much as I desire to walk in the word, it’s not always easy. My hope is to encourage you, my dear friend, in your walk with God with words that He has used to strengthen my own walk with Him.

    Alice, Thank you for a morning devotional read. I am your neighbor at FMF. I especially liked how you bolded the scripture for me:
    We need to seek, we need to reach out, we need to make the effort. David’s words, “I have looked for You”, “I will lift up my hands in Your name”, “I remember You in my bed”, “I meditate on You in the night watches”. When we stretch out to seek, yearn and hunger for Him, He satisfies.

    David’s words are our words. We are enough.
