Memory Verse Monday – Week 15

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

If you have been memorizing with me, in the past weeks, you know we have been learning some key verses pertaining to salvation and faith, like Romans 10:9, Romans 8:1, Psalm 103:12 and Isaiah 1:18 Each verse conveys a pivotal truth of our object of faith. Today we will memorize a verse that says He is faithful and just.

God is gracious, He is loving and merciful. Micah 7:18 says Who is a pardoning God like You, pardoning iniquity? While that explains only one aspect of why He chose to forgive us, the other half is because He is faithful to what He promised. He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever.” Psalm 103:9 At the right time, He delivered His promise by sending His son.

When it comes to the just part of  His forgiveness, it takes us back to the Old testament and the sacrificial system. There is no remission of sins without the shedding of blood, (Hebrews 9:22) God didn’t make an excuse and provide an easy route to pardon us. He could have easily done that, but He is a JUST God. so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many.” (Hebrews 9:28)

If we confess our sins, He is Faithful & Just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 Memory Verse Monday - Week 15

Now that we have established that He is faithful and just, can’t we just believe that He is able to cleanse us from all unrighteousness? Yes, you heard it right. All your sins. He can forgive your deepest thoughts, radical actions and your silliest attitude. He can forgive all of them. Do you believe that? You can receive forgiveness from Him, when you confess. Take that invitation while it is available my friend. Because very soon, it might be too late for you.

And for those of you who have accepted the invitation long time ago, but still unable to live free from the guilt of sin, you know what to do. Confess. Confess your sins, even the sin of not confessing and letting go of your guilt. Because you know that He is a pardoning God and there is none like Him. Praise be!

Tip of the Week

If you are comfortable taking a marker or a sticker to your Bible, this tip is for you. As I memorize the verses, I am placing a very small sticker next to the verse. You can use a specific color pen or marker. What this does is, as you flip through the pages in your Bible during other times, when you come across this special mark, it reminds you that you have memorized that particular verse. That way you can recollect it, it only takes few seconds. This is how my memory verses look like in my Bible. Have a special sticker or color of pen set apart just for this purpose so it stands out!

Oh, and don’t forget to sign up if you haven’t already, because next week I will be sending out a FREE printable of all the memory verses we’ve learnt so far and you don’t want to miss that!

I enjoy learning from God’s word, it amazes me, the wisdom and treasures of God and the way He reveals them to me day after day in a profound manner. In this space I share with you what I’ve learnt through my time with the Word. I earnestly believe that learning alone isn’t sufficient but walking in the word is crucial in a believer’s life. As much as I desire to walk in the word, it’s not always easy. My hope is to encourage you, my dear friend, in your walk with God with words that He has used to strengthen my own walk with Him.

  • Alice, what a great idea to put a small sticker beside the verses we’ve learned! I’ve never thought of that, and it’s so encouraging and also makes them more eye-catching!

  • Carol says:

Alice – I love that verse! The other day I read it in the children’s bible: But if we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins. We can trust God. He does what is right. He will make us clean from all the wrongs we have done.
If only we can remember that it really is that simple! The forgiveness has already happened – it’s just waiting on us!
