Memory Verse Monday – Week 16

“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.” Acts 2:36

After Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection, on the day of Pentecost, Peter gave a sermon to the people. He quoted the prophesies and the old testament, Joel and David, all to help his audience understand that Jesus Christ fulfilled them all by His resurrection on the third day.

“Assuredly”, he says, claiming that the resurrection of Jesus is an indisputable fact. “This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses.” (Acts 2:32) Jesus appeared, to Cephas, the twelve, 500 brethren, James, all the apostles and last of all to Paul. (1 Corinthians 15:5-8) Jesus appeared. There were witnesses. It is an undeniable truth that He rose up on the third day.

Peter also made them realize that the one they crucified, that Jesus, He was both Lord and Christ. That same Jesus, whom they had crucified, has been at the right hand of God, (v34) He was none other than the Son of God Himself. This truth is the crux of our belief. As you might recall from our previous memory verse in Romans 10:9, it is mentioned “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

I enjoy learning from God’s word, it amazes me, the wisdom and treasures of God and the way He reveals them to me day after day in a profound manner. In this space I share with you what I’ve learnt through my time with the Word. I earnestly believe that learning alone isn’t sufficient but walking in the word is crucial in a believer’s life. As much as I desire to walk in the word, it’s not always easy. My hope is to encourage you, my dear friend, in your walk with God with words that He has used to strengthen my own walk with Him.
