Memory Verse Monday – Week 18

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3:5

Today’s verse is so much easier to learn than obey, so much easier to preach than practice. Have you ever been overwhelmed, confused, anxious? Did you succumb to your emotions and make your own choices and decisions? Or do you remember trusting in the Lord and casting away all fear and anxiety?

This is a tough one. However, the proverbs and many other scripture passages teach us to trust in God. It warns us to put away earthly wisdom and rely on heavenly wisdom. Trusting in God, every single moment is a challenge really, but a rewarding one!

How do you do that without letting your self in. Well, for starters, when we pray, just like Jesus taught us, we should pray for “thy will to be done” (Matthew 6:10). We could bring “every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5)

Once you start letting go of your self and letting God in, when you trust Him completely in the most difficult and the simple situations of your life, you begin to see God’s leading, you see Him steering your paths, and that is such a wonderful experience. After all, it might even become easier to obey and practice!

I enjoy learning from God’s word, it amazes me, the wisdom and treasures of God and the way He reveals them to me day after day in a profound manner. In this space I share with you what I’ve learnt through my time with the Word. I earnestly believe that learning alone isn’t sufficient but walking in the word is crucial in a believer’s life. As much as I desire to walk in the word, it’s not always easy. My hope is to encourage you, my dear friend, in your walk with God with words that He has used to strengthen my own walk with Him.
