Memory Verse Monday – Week 27

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1

Paul is extending an earnest request to his readers here. He is calling them for a greater cause. “I beseech you”

“present your bodies a living sacrifice” You and me, we are His. We have been redeemed by His blood. We’ve been made dead to sin and alive in Christ. So it’s only natural when Paul calls us to present our lives, which are now alive and well, only through His mercies, as a living sacrifice.

Our lives should be a service to Him, a form of worship. Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.” (Hebrews 13:15-16) This is a reasonable service to God. He delights in this kind of worship.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1 Memory Verse Monday - Week 27

But do you see the words “continually” and ” do not forget”? I’ve always found this verse to be a tall order. How can I live a continuous life of worship, doing everything I do for His glory? Well, the first step would be to memorise this verse and bring it to mind everytime we have difficulty in living up to it. Second would be to ask for the help of the Holy Spirit to work in ourselves to bring this verse to action.

I enjoy learning from God’s word, it amazes me, the wisdom and treasures of God and the way He reveals them to me day after day in a profound manner. In this space I share with you what I’ve learnt through my time with the Word. I earnestly believe that learning alone isn’t sufficient but walking in the word is crucial in a believer’s life. As much as I desire to walk in the word, it’s not always easy. My hope is to encourage you, my dear friend, in your walk with God with words that He has used to strengthen my own walk with Him.
