Memory Verse Monday – Week 34

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

You can thank me now for choosing an easy verse. I’m very confident that no matter how many verses you know or don’t know by heart, you could never have skipped this one! It’s one of the first verses we teach kids. It’s on almost every gospel tract and even people who haven’t read the Bible are familiar with this verse. That is how familiar this verse. But let the familiarity of the verse not keep you away from the profound truth in these words.

If you already know this verse, which I’m pretty sure you will, I urge you to meditate on these two words.

SO

God so loved the world. Imagine the width, the height, and depth of His love. I cannot express it better than this song.

Could we with ink the ocean fill
And were the skies of paper made
Every tree on earth a quill
And every man a scribe by trade
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry
Nor could the scroll contain the whole
Though stretched from sky to sky

Oh love of God, how rich and pure
How measureless and strong
It shall forevermore endure
The saints and angels songs

WHOEVER

Anyone who believes can become partakers of this eternal life. No indifference to the severity of your crime, color of your skin, quirks in your character or wrinkles on that skin. Jesus’ sacrificial love was offered on that cross for anyone and everyone who believes.

The magnitude of these two words just amazes me. Would you bring to mind John 3:16 this week whenever you remember God. He SO loved us. He made that way of eternal life for whoever that believes, even me.

I enjoy learning from God’s word, it amazes me, the wisdom and treasures of God and the way He reveals them to me day after day in a profound manner. In this space I share with you what I’ve learnt through my time with the Word. I earnestly believe that learning alone isn’t sufficient but walking in the word is crucial in a believer’s life. As much as I desire to walk in the word, it’s not always easy. My hope is to encourage you, my dear friend, in your walk with God with words that He has used to strengthen my own walk with Him.
