Memory Verse Monday – Week 35

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. Revelation 3:20

In Revelation 3:14-21, we see the letter to the church in Laodicea commonly described as the lukewarm church. Their issues have been that they were neither cold nor hot, they refuse to admit their deficiency. They were self-sufficient and in the process, they had shut off Christ from the doors of their heart. “Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked” Revelation 3:17

Unlike the common interpretation, this verse sadly is a call to His people who are believers. Believers who have forgotten the grace by which they were saved, forgotten the richness of His love. Believers who have begun to lead a life independent of Christ. They need a wake-up call.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock.

What a wonderful Savior. He came around the first time as a door (John 10:9) providing a way. Now when His people have shut Him out of their lives, He lovingly stands at the door of their heart and knocks. He isn’t forceful with His entry. He knocks, and then He waits, waits for us to hear His voice, to recognize that love second time around. If anyone hears and opens the door, He promises to come in. He promises to make right the broken relationship. He promises to restore the fellowship with him.

Is there any area in your life that you have become self-sufficient and shunned God an entry? Listen to Him knocking. He wants an entry, a fellowship. “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.” Revelation 3:19

I enjoy learning from God’s word, it amazes me, the wisdom and treasures of God and the way He reveals them to me day after day in a profound manner. In this space I share with you what I’ve learnt through my time with the Word. I earnestly believe that learning alone isn’t sufficient but walking in the word is crucial in a believer’s life. As much as I desire to walk in the word, it’s not always easy. My hope is to encourage you, my dear friend, in your walk with God with words that He has used to strengthen my own walk with Him.
