Memory Verse Monday – Week 37

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

At the time when Jesus was ministering, He found the people carrying a burden that was too heavy for them and leaders who will do nothing about it but add more straw to the camel’s back. “And He said, “Woe to you also, lawyers! For you load men with burdens hard to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers.” (Luke 11:46)

Jesus said, “come to me”. He is the way, the truth, and the life. (John14:6) He promised to provide rest. The people addressed here are the ones who have been finding it difficult to keep the law. It’s compared to a yoke that has been heavy for them to bear. The heavier the yoke, the harder it is for them to move, to progress, to do anything of their lives.

Jesus provides a new law. A law of love. He is inviting them to “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:29)

I enjoy learning from God’s word, it amazes me, the wisdom and treasures of God and the way He reveals them to me day after day in a profound manner. In this space I share with you what I’ve learnt through my time with the Word. I earnestly believe that learning alone isn’t sufficient but walking in the word is crucial in a believer’s life. As much as I desire to walk in the word, it’s not always easy. My hope is to encourage you, my dear friend, in your walk with God with words that He has used to strengthen my own walk with Him.
