Memory Verse Monday – Week 44

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. James 1:17

The two words “good gift” and “perfect gift” are different words and have a different meaning in the original Greek. One is the act of giving and the other is the gift given. James writes to say that every gift given by God is good. We can trust Him to give us good gifts because He is an unchanging God.

Since this verse has a little poetic rendition in the original language, let’s use that format to split this verse into lines in a poem that will help us memorize.

Every good gift

and every perfect gift

is from above,

and comes down

from the Father of lights,

with whom

there is no variation

or shadow of turning.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. James 1:17 Memory Verse Monday - Week 44

I enjoy learning from God’s word, it amazes me, the wisdom and treasures of God and the way He reveals them to me day after day in a profound manner. In this space I share with you what I’ve learnt through my time with the Word. I earnestly believe that learning alone isn’t sufficient but walking in the word is crucial in a believer’s life. As much as I desire to walk in the word, it’s not always easy. My hope is to encourage you, my dear friend, in your walk with God with words that He has used to strengthen my own walk with Him.
